What Is the North Suburban Chamber’s Military Affairs Council (MAC)?
Committed Business Partners United for Service

In the mid-1980s, the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce –  a business organization serving 13 communities in the Woburn area Route 128/Interstate 95 corridor – created a Military Affairs Council (MAC) dedicated to fostering and preserving a crucial relationship between business, local communities, and the Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB) community.

Why Should My Business Join The Military Affairs Council?

Interaction & Information

In the nearly 20 years of its existence, the MAC has dedicated significant resources towards interaction between the business community and HAFB.

The MAC consists of more than 20 large and small companies that do business with the Air Force or Department of Defense.  Most of the MAC members have contract relationships with some part of Hanscom AFB.    The objectives of the MAC are threefold:

*  Provide members with visibility into Congressional actions to enhance military business and specifically to invest in the missions managed in the local area.  The MAC members have been focused on community directly with local Congressmen and Congresswomen as well as Congressional Candidates.

* Support the military in the local area.  This is done in a myriad of ways including the Annual Golf Tournament and other activities and fundraisers.

* Create social opportunities for MAC members to interact with local military leaders.

MAC members are in a unique position to network and interact with Hanscom personnel and learn more about its mission so they can effectively contribute to HAFB goals.  Sustaining MAC members have quarterly breakfast gatherings and other programs of industry, community leaders and HAFB leadership. These meetings provide MAC members with important technical and contracting information as well as key developments in Air Force policy and projects that can affect their business. All MAC members are invited to popular social events held at various locations in our region. These programs help maintain key relationships and friendships with HAFB personnel and other industry and community leaders.

Community Liaison

The MAC is a community liaison to HAFB, and is working to bring our various community partners and businesses together with the personnel on base.

Enhancing the Mission of LCMC at Hanscom Air Force Base

Through our Action Plan Committee, we are prepared for any Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) activities.Your support is crucial to help us enjoin a partnership of business, community and government leaders as we work to educate our region about the economic value and benefit to our community of LCMC at Hanscom AFB.In the mid 1990s, MAC through Team Hanscom was the leader in an important effort to keep ESC active, and when we faced another round of BRAC in 2005, we were successful again with your help.
